Please doublecheck! RS485 with Profinet is NOT possible! May be, it is Profibus? |

Please have a look at Yaskawa homepage. Usually you will find the GDS files that you need ("Profibus Driver") and an small example. |

On the Yaskawa web site, there is the GSD file IBN-Service suggested you visit. It also contains information on the interface requirements. The GSD file should allow you to install the device fairly easilyinto the distributed IO section for the S7-1200 family provided you are using TIA Portal V11 SP2 (or higher) and PLC firmware 2.2 (or higher). There are S7-1200/Portal FAQs on how to configure drives. Use those instructionsto set up your configuration to match it to your non-Siemens drive(s). These instructions are very step-by-step with pictures! Simply swap the siemens drive with your drive after installing the gsd file. Beyond that, it is up to you to decide how you want to control and interface your non-Siemens drive. If you are stuck, you might want to contact your area Siemens Applications Engineer and hire them for a day or so to help commission everything. |

The USS protocol is not Profibus. It is an"special SIMATIC" protocol for Siemens Inverters. |

USS is not a special SIMATIC and not only for Siemens Inverters. If Yaskawa supports USS protocol you can use it. What you need is RS485 Module for S7-1200. How to use for distributed speed control, see here: Distributed Speed Control of a Drive via the USS Protocol (CE-X11) How to use the USS blocks with more functionality, see here: Decentralized positioning of a SINAMICS S110 with S7-1200 via USS-Protocol (CE-X9) If you want to use yaskawa with Profibus, you need Profibus Master module for S7-1200: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/42131407 |
