Reading incremantal encoder

mick001 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I've connected the A-channel of an incremental encoder Kubler Type 3700 with 360 pulses/round, on the I4 from a LOGO OBA6. The I4 is connected to a counterblock to check if pulses are read. It seems to work correctly if I turn the axe of the encoder very slow, but if turning faster the entrance of the Logo seems not to follow. The encoder should read at a speed of around 100rpm. So on the entrance of the LOGO will come 100rnd/m*360pulses/rnd=36000pulses/min=600pulses/s. Is this to fast to read for the LOGO? If your logo version is 230RC the maximum input speed is 4Hz*! 2. The counter block can support only up to 999999, thus check your counter value not exceeding this. Hope helps

Toeternietoe Platinum Member Joined: 12/27/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2025 Posts: 1200 Rating: (116)	The LOGO! 24RC have NO high speed inputs: Inputs are max 2 Hz. Read the manual. U can use the LOGO 12/24 RC its have 4 HIgh speed inputs (I3, I4, I5 and I6) But this LOPGO is only in DC powering

mick001 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Dear Toeternietoe, The 2Hz is for the relais outputs, 10Hz for the transistor outputs, but I'm talking about the inputs... As you stated in another topic, the max input frequence is aroud 5kHz. (/tf/WW/en/Posts/78929) So, if the counter gets 600 pulses every second, means that the cycletime from this process will be 1/600s = 1,66ms. The cycletime of the Logo is <1ms. But it doesn't work properly, not even with 300pulses/s... Nobody? grz

Please remember, that input frequenies higher than the dynamic LOGO! cycle frequency can correct counting, but the counter can be read and the LOGO! can work and test the counter value only with the cycle frequency !!!
