SimonB Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Hi all, this may not be a Siemens fault as such, may be OEM but here goes: I’ve modified a PLC program to switch on message 700133 by setting db2.dbx192.1 high.This works fine.The error text is in a file called F:\MMC2\MB\LARU_UK.txt. I can modify this file and change the text and save the file OK. When HMI start up, boots up, it appears to ‘notice’ that this file has been modified; deletes it; and then replaces it with an original ‘back up’ version. I can prove this with the date stamps. Original file was modified in 2007 and mine in 2013 The outcome is that I generate the text as a message from the original 2007 file (e.g. “700133 PLC dbx192.1”) rather than the text I want – ‘700133 coolant fault’. If I try to prevent this file deletion e.g. by making the LARU_UK.txt file ‘read only’ it partially works, my 2013 file is read, my error text is output but theMMC produces fault 120120, and fills thenotification screen with garbage 'too many alarm texts'. I think it has something to do with a file/program LARU_UK.com in F:\DH\MB.DIR. I get the same 120120 fault if I delete it. Obviously my question is how to make my changes 'stick'. Also, what is the default file name for alarm/messages in the 700000 range, and how is the OEM reading from its' own file? Hard/software: 840D powerline - PCU50.2 - Windows XP I have limited experience with S7, dealing more with the electrical side of things

MBA Posts: 594 Rating: (79)	I have not been able to observe this behavior maybe it's because this is the file still exists in a different directory in the mbdde.ini the paths are entered Doconweb for mbdde.ini https://www.automation.siemens.com/doconweb/content.asp?item=5645&cd=sinumerik_simodrive_04_2010_e&scope=all

SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (42)	The COM file in DH.DIR is the master file. COM is short for COMMENT. It is not an executable file, it is a text file. Change the text in there. Either restart the HMI or temporarily change languages to update the system. The name of the file is chosen by the OEM and entered into an INI file. It is best to avoid changing files in the DH path directly. You should always use the Siemens Services area to edit these files. Siemens keeps track of permissions for these files in a control file.
