I have a USB/MPI Adaptor 6ES7 972-OCB20-0XA0 and am attempting to connect to a S7-214 (6ES7 214-0AC01-0XB0) using Step 7-Micro/Win V4.0.1.10

acurley1 Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	I have a USB/MPI Adaptor 6ES7 972-OCB20-0XA0 and am attempting to connect to a S7-214 (6ES7 214-0AC01-0XB0) using Step 7-Micro/Win V4.0.1.10. I have installed the USB Drivers for the Adaptor and Have configured the USB Adaptor as outlined above. When I select "PC Adapter(PPI)" as the interface (Local Connection: USB, PPI:Address -0, Timeout -30s, Transmission Rate- 9.6KBPS, HSA-31) I can see my PLC as an unknown Device at Address "2" however any attempts to connect otr clear this device are met with Communications errors "No Connection to the specified address could be established. Possibly an invalid or non existent address". No other connection combination I have tried will help, this is as far as I can get. Can someone help me please?

Ste39 Posts: 4620 Rating: (710)	Hi acurley1, You need the converter PPI / Multimaster cable 6ES7 901-3CB30-0XA0 (RS 232 PC side) or 6ES7 901-3DB30-0XA0 USB PC side).

I was hoping that my existing cable will work and that was what i gathered from solutionfinders post, and that It can find a device on address 2 (But can't identify or commuicate beyond this) I was hoping there was something in the settings I missed. Where can I set the address if the CPU if required? This seems to be only set in manuals and the "wipeout.exe" program only works through the serial port for clearing the CPU outside Micro-win.

Your adapter should work with S7-200 6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0 SIMATIC S7, PC ADAPTER USB Regards, Marcjan

acurley1 Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi Marcjan I Set up the adapters as outlined in your post above. I've set up my connection as per the pictures attached labelled Microwin2 - to Microwin4. I then connect the adpater between the PLC and the PC and Attempt to connect to the PLC using "View" --> "Component" --> "Communications". When I "Double-Click to Refresh" I only get one "unknown" device at Address 2. When I try connecting to it, I get the Message shown in the picture attached Labelled Microwin1. I appreciate that this "Should" work but I'm at my wits end trying to get this working. All other communications parameters other than that above that I've tried, won't even see any devices on "Double-Click to Refresh". Please Help. Attachment C:\temp\Microwin.jpg (1097 Downloads)

acurley1 Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi guys. Anyone any ideas as to what's wrong here? I just seem to be going around and around in circles here trying parameters and none are making sense. I've updated my program onto a windows 7 machine and updated Microwin to Service pack 7 but none are helping. Please help.
