Everything works fine with the default settings but when i change the path which the program saves the projects i have the same message "storage area is read-only" error code 0080:000014. I am logged in as administrator

ntan Experienced Member Joined: 5/28/2010 Last visit: 10/23/2025 Posts: 18 Rating: (3)	I have this same issue when trying to open/create a program that is on a networked drive. I was able to get around the problem by copying the project folder to my desktop and opeing the project from there.

I recomend to check the hard disk drives where you have installed STEP 7 and where you want to create the projects Click with the right mouse on the folder (example "D") and open the "Properties" from the context menü. Change to the register "Security" and check the settings by the window "Permissions for Authenticated Users". It is possible that some rights are not allowed, particular "Write". If you click on "Edit..." then you can set the permission in the next dialog. Other reasons, check the free space on the hard disk. Check also whether the correct license is installed for STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V12. There are also the different between STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V12 Professional and STEP 7 (TIA Portal) V12 Basic. Apparently it is a known problem when using shared folders in virtual machines (as was my case). There was no resolution to the problem other than copying the project to a local drive.

Hi, if your system is connected in network and you don't have rights to write the files in server. This is the issue, if you login as a admin with writing access this error don't come.

KeesM Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I have the same problem, I can't open network files in V12 but i can open the same file in the same location in V11, no problem. It's possible to open the file If you copy the file to a local drive. I have all rights to write and also loged in as admin it's not possible to open it in V12. To us it's seems to be a problem in V12. Siemens supportin the Netherlandsis working on it but they don'tunderstand the problem and are not able to help me so far.
