S7 AUTOMAN Posts: 515 Rating: (56)	hi prats, in short, RAM memory card needs a backup battery to retain the program backups contained in it provided it should be placed inside the CPU slot in the rack itself whereas EPROM retains the program backup even without a battery backup. from my knowledge when we use EPROM, when we download programs there are chances that your CPU might go to stop mode which may effect your plant during operation whereas in RAM this doesnt seems to occur(experts correct me if am wrong please)

S7 AUTOMAN Posts: 515 Rating: (56)	hi, like ste39 suggested, the same was the suggestion from one of my colleague too, during the initial stages of commissioning,use a RAM card whereas during the final stages replace it with an EPROM. (not a necessary,compulsary or satisfactory solution indeed).

I'm agree with Ste39. RAM memory is the best solution for commissioning time. After commissioning, it is best to use the Flash EPROM.

Prats Posts: 272 Rating: (4)	thanks for the replies ...it is indeed helpful when i use a 400 H system , during syncronistaion is it recommended to have a RAM card right, because EPROM will take a lot of time to syncronise. correct me if i am wrong.
