I thought like you a time ago. When the HSC is initialised, the values are zeroed - regardless of the retain setting. Best to follow the link provided and follow these instructions. It boils down to it that you keep a buffered copy of the count. This buffered copy is set as retaining its state through a power outage. When initilizing the HSC, the buffer copy is used as the initial count value. I hope this is helpful. Greetings. w
