Is there a part number for an Open Modbus TCP redundant license for Redundant S7-412-5H CPU, How many Devices communicating via Modbus TCP can be on an Ethernet network of switches with the CPU, i have considered a Star Network of the Modbus devices with an Unmanged switch and an Ethernet single link form this unmanaged switch to a managed switch to be connected with the Redundant S7-412-5H CPU and a WINCC SCADA system.

Hello, I assume you want to use a CPU412-5H PN/DP. In that case there is no license for a redundant Modbus communication available yet. You can use the Modbus block for nonredundant communication, setup several instances of it and program the redundant functionnality yourself. There is a FAQ for this topic but at the moment it is only available in German and Spanish: ¿Cómo se puede realizar una comunicación MODBUS/TCP redundante en STEP 7 V5.5 a través de la interfaz PROFINET integrada de una CPU 41x-H ? As far as I know there is no limitation for Modbus TCP devices in an Ethernet network. But the CPU has a maximum number of TCP connections that can be used for the Modbus TCP communication. This can be found in the technical data of the CPU. Regards, Sakura |

I had considered two CP 443 cards with Modbus Red License for communication with Client DCS and the red CPU uses one of its PN ports each to be connected to the Managed switch from which a SCADA station is connected along with an unmanaged swith which is used to form the Start network of Modbus TCP Gateways and is performing Read/Write operation to the 10 Modubus TCP Gateways to Local controllers located in pairs at 5 different locations. This is illustrated in the attached architecture in the initial post, Apart from that i have three remote IO stations forming a ring topologiy with remaining two pairs of Red CPU PN ports, Can this CPU ie S7-412-5H PN/DP handle the task of communication and control with the DCS, SCADA, the Remote IOs and the 10 different Modbus TCP/IP gateways? However since there is no Modbus Red License for the CPU then should i jst take another pair of CP 443 cards and a single Modbus TCP red license?
