Hello, For Redundnat CPUs, you need to use two CPUs H-Type like what you have selected 414-5H And for IOs, you can go with RED-Bundle to make redundnat communication through Profibus or use Profinet with single IM or use Profibus with single IM but with using Y-Link. Who decide? The Clinet and the project Costing, and needed availability of the system. Hope this helps. |

Hello eng. Abdul; There are 4 basic ways you can connect I/O racks to a S7-400H system, for redundancy. With a redundant ET 200M station, you can setup a "single channel switched IO" system, through Profibus-DP or Profinet. See the attached screenshot, taken from chapter 13 of this manual: SIMATIC Fault-tolerant systems S7-400H https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/82478488 If you decide not to use a redundant ET 200M bundle, you can choose any of the other 3 possible configurations, this will be a choice to be discussed with your client; the evaluation of compromise between function and cost is a basic part of engineering.
