The Short answer: CPU1214C (DC/DC/DC) If you want the long answer.. see next.. (XX / YY / ZZ) in the part descrition tells you something about the PLC. XX = the input power the PLC receives DC - 24Vdc or AC - 120Vac or 220Vac. YY = what type of inputs are there (on the base CPU) ZZ = what type of outputs are there (on the base CPU). The (DC/DC/RLY) means that the outputs are of relay type. Relays or not suited for doing motion control (as in.. built in motion control) - relays are not made to pulse at kHz frequency. BUT.. With the S7-1200 there is a signal board (SB) that can extend your PLC's onboard capacity. You can then have transistor outputs on this SB and still have relays on your main PLC -- very neat, do you not agree? Depending on your application, you may find a CPU1212 (DC/DC/DC) may do the job you hope to do with it. You have a bit more limitations, but many a time it is not an issue. Else.. consider the CPU1215 with extra Profinet port if you have a larger system. I recommend (IMHO) to get a CPU1212 and get to know the range first before doing a project (if you are blessed with some time/money). Also try to get(download) the "easy book" for the S7-1200 in PDF that helps with getting to know that range. G~luck w

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1204)	Rockie, "RS485" relates to a hardware connection standard. You will need to find out what protocol is running from the servos. Normally it is Modbus protocol that is running from such servo drives. Let us assume you have Modbus protocol on the servos. If you have USS protocol AND Modbus network, then you will find you will have to run those seperately. You will find you will need x2 connections. I recommend you dowload the S7-1200 system manual from the web. There is much information in there that will explain part numbers and give tips on connections. For RS485 (as example) there are termination resistor needed in a network. This is explained in the system manual in detail. Recently I have with a system the CM1241 RS422/RS485 for running Modbus. CM1241 RS485 would have done the trick too. Please do get that system manual. It will help you a lot. w

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1204)	The choice between CB and CM is yours to make. From program point of view both does the same for you. You need two devices (communication modulse). One device running Modbus. One device running USS. x1 CB and x1 CM is more economical. Functional x2 CB will do also. Does this help? Okay.. Rockie, I will assume you already have technical details.
