Hi, I am not sure what do you need. It is difficult to give you more help as we do not know what do you need. Why do not talk to your local Siemens distributor? Anyways there is some links you can have a look to see what options available. Examples for S7-400H: Configuration Examples for S7-400H with PROFINET Products for Remote IO Technologies: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/ps/14029/td Products for HMI's: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/ps/14729/td Products for Automation Stations in general: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/ps/13616 What sort of requirements do you have to meet? Do you really need a redundant PLC? Is it a distributed system or central? What HMI functions do you need? Any interface to 3rd party systems? These are the basic questions to ask before an architecture get designed. I hope I could help a little! |

HI, I think an S7-1200 processor can not have 54 S7 connections. Check it with the Technical specification of the processor. If they all have to be networked together maybe a better option to use a central CPU and 54 Remote IO. So the central CPU manage the communication between the 54 connection Master - Slave style. The thing is that in this case the central CPU have to manage all the HMI connections as well. So this will be a bottleneck. That is something can be a problem. By the way if you have a Processor combined with Remote IO rack, the HMI should be able to configured to connect to the local CPU and this can be a Remote IO for the central CPU in the mean time. Have a look a this as an example DP link between CPU 315-2DP (slave) and S7-400 (master) with STEP 7 V5.3 how to use a CPU as DP slave. An other example with ET200s CPU and HMI What should you watch out for when connecting a SIMATIC HMI device configured with WinCC flexible ES to a SIMATIC ET 200 CPU? Have a look at the links and think about it. Please keep in mind that the high communication load can slow down your response times. |

Hi, I do not think you can manage 54 HMI with on CPU. S7 connections are limited on CPUs. Check the CPU specification what CPU can manage how many connections. By the way One Profinet node failure not neccesarily cause complete bus failure. You can install Profinet in Ring or Star. Have a look at the SIMATIC PROFINET System Description . |
