Hello all.

I've noticed today that there are bigger (in capacity)SD cards for S7-1XXX CPU's avaliable. Are these cards compatible with S7-1200 CPU's and can they be used to store datalogs on them?

These are the cards:

6ES7954-8LL02-0AA0, 6ES7954-8LP01-0AA0

The price of these cards... no comment!

Careful... there is an upper limit see this quote from the System Manual:

S7-1200 Programmable controller, System Manual,
01/2015, A5E02486680-AH, page 436

Maximum size rule for Data log files
The maximum size of one data log file cannot exceed the free load memory size or 500
megabytes, whichever is smaller. The size of 500 megabytes in this case refers to the
decimal definition of megabyte, such that the maximum data log file size is 500,000,000
bytes or 500 x 10002 bytes.

Time stamp bytes in one data record
● No time stamp = 0 bytes
● Time stamp = 20 bytes

So the new cards that I found can be used for datalogging, you just have to watch that one datalog ins't bigger than 500Mb?

For the S7-1200, it will be much smaller than 500 MB for most if not all available s7-1200 PLCs at this time.

Read the quoted item:

Maximum size rule for Data log files
The maximum size of one data log file cannot exceed the free load memory size or 500
megabytes, whichever is smaller.

Check your free load memory for the PLC you are using.  That will be your maximum log size, unless you are lucky and it is more than 500 MB of free load memory.  Most S7-1200's will not have that as an option.
