I want to use incremental encoder connected to the s7-1200 PLC to calculate RPM of motor.

Can anyone tell me the connections of encoder and PLC; also what i have  to take in hardware configuration.

if any sample program is available please send

PLC  S7-1200:6ES7 214-1AG40-0XB0

ENCODER: Baumer HTL 1024PPR incremental 0..30VDC

Dear sir,

Enable HSC block and select the counting type.Using HSC block in the program the value has to be read on the particular address.

Please Go with HSC block Configuration manual.

Please do the following, very simple to enable,

Device Configuration - Double click CPU - General Tab - High Speed Counters Tab - Select "Enable this high speed counter" - This will now enable 4 input bits of CPU to log High Speed Pulses.

Simply connect your incremental encoder signal feedback (24VDC), couple common point to 0VDC of CPU, and the first 4 DI of the CPU S7-1200 1214C are HSDI.
