Hi everyone,

I need to make communicate 1 PLC Siemens S7-1200 (my system) and 1 Rockwell 1769-L33ER (customer) together. 

My PLC Siemens is declared as a IO-Device and usually communicated with Siemens PLC in the past.
But now, if I generate my GSDML file (PROFINET IO), will it be recognised by the PLC Rockwell of the customer? 
What do I need to pay attention on? And what about the customer? Is there any converting manipulations to do?

I hope it's not a blocking point...

just integrate the created GSDML-file, and assign the IO-adress for it. 

there should be no further complications with it.

for first of all I will be check if my PLC can act as Profinet I/O Device.

Update: can you pls post more info about communication? What type of communication? What kind of data will be exchanged? Maybe you only need prepare user communication over TCP. From your post I read that Rockwell has Ethernet not Profinet port? From this all can be begining...

Ethernet based communication would seem logical. But you need some software coding to make it work.

Hi, excellent post!

But I was wondering if this solution could be used to connect a CompactLogix PLC.

As well as if this solution is the most advisable, i.e. over a gateway solution..
