RF180C in TIA PORTAL V14

Hello,

I have a RFID device has the following description:

SIMATIC RF180C 6GT2 002-0JD00 FIRMWARE V1.1.0

My query is: Does this firmware version support the use of "Ident Blocks"?

If the answer is negative, so I would have to update the firmware to the latest version 2.2.1, which tried following the steps in the link provided:

But to execute the action I get the message: "Unable to establish an online link with The Module " and there´s no description about the device RF180C, but I can look for  IP address and get online with the device.

Now in case of unable to update the firmware, is it possible to make use of the FB45 blocks in TIA PORTAL V14? I would like to know how can I use FB45 in TIA PORTAL V14.

Hi Nohuman,

the RF180C V1.1.0 works just fine with the "Ident Blocks" (but you have to project a RF180C V2 in TIA). Nevertheless I'd recommend to update the module because it's only guaranteed to work with FW 2.2.0 or higher combined with the ident blocks. Make sure your RF180C's hardware version is 7 or higher before updating. If your RF180C's version is lower then 7 you won't be able to upgrade to FW >2 . In this case you need to buy a new module or contact your sales man for upgrading your module.

Another option is to use FB45 with an old module, as you mentioned before.

How can I know the version of RF180C? If is it version 7 ? o lower

there's a cross labeled onto the housing of the RF180C. The "X" on the label represents the HW version. See attached picture.
