Configuring Windows Network using CP1613/23

iamRKP Experienced Member Joined: 2/10/2010 Last visit: 12/8/2025 Posts: 77 Rating: (0)	We are using a configuration consisting of PLC, ES/OS, OS Server, OS Client using separate Plant Bus and Terminal Bus. The ES is connected to the Plant Bus via CP-1613. We want to connect a laptop PG in this configuration for communication with the PLC. Hence, we have to connect it to the plant bus via its own onboard network adaptor. Also from the laptop PG, we want to access the same project residing on the ES. But in the plant bus, it is not being possible to access the ES using TCP/IP. Please suggest whether such application is possible and if possible what configuration topology is to be followed. For your reference I have attached a schematic of the configuration. Attachment Configuration.JPG (428 Downloads)

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 12/19/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (98)	Hello, in case of CP1613 you have to installadditional driver for standard network adapter (NDIS) from the supplied CD, in case of CP1623 the standard network driver is included (there's only one driver) and you can find the network adapter in Windows Network Connections. During installation of PCS7 V7.0 SP2,PCS7_V70SP1_Package_SN-CP-1623_V1.exe was already installed. Hence I need not install it separately on OS Server. On the ES, under the Network Connections CP1613's are detected as SIMITIC CP1613 NDIS Adapter and On the OS Server under the Network adaptors CP1623's are detected as SIMATIC Miniport CP1623 PCIe Adapter. Also we have followed the steps as mentioned in the link you have provided. We have done similar type of settings on both OS Server (SIMATIC Miniport CP1623 PCIe Adaptor) and ES (SIMATIC CP1613 NDIS Adapter)aswell asadditional windows settings, as mentioned in that link. We have given separate IP addresses for NDIS of CP1613/1623and normal CP1613/1623 (for same address on both NDIS and normalthere was conflict as seen from SIMATIC NET Configuration Console). Now from the Laptop PG it is being possible to connect to the ES via the Plant Bus. Please suggest what further settings are to be done.

If the network is working it seems that it's enough, of course you have to set up the user rights and accessess on computers. Regards Sydney

iamRKP Experienced Member Joined: 2/10/2010 Last visit: 12/8/2025 Posts: 77 Rating: (0)	Once the Network is established itshould be possibletoping to the ES from the Laptop PG, via the Plant Bus using IP address of NDIS CP1613 and vice versa. But on the contrary, in our case, it never pings from the ES to the Laptop PG and also sometime the laptop PG could not ping to the ES. They also can not see one another on the workgroup. Pleasesuggest me what could be the problem. [schnippschnapp]

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 12/19/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (98)	Hello, if you ping the IP address which is in the same subnet on the Plant Bus from the ES, normaly it shouldwork if it's not disabled by any sw setting. Did you use the IP address of the server as a default gateway? I'm not used to work with a redundant network so I'm not sure how it's goingin this case where your PG is connected to one of the network as described in picture . I hope somebody else here will come with a solution/suggestion. Regards Sydney
