Melwyn Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	HI, the motor in our application is running always at 100% continously, ( temeprature at 45-55Deg C) is this permissible? also let me know the safe operating range at this temperature & how frequently this service factor of 1.1 to be in use ( for example: may be once in every 1 hour it can reach 1.1 times higher.....or something other?)

Because I seen in past, some of my client had Motor (Siemens Motor) for compressor application which was continuously running on 110-115% and according to client, his vendor told before supplying these motors that these are designed for higher loading... Hi Mel, What is the application & how is the duty cycle of your application. As the manufacturer has specified, in your case Siemens,at KT=40 Deg cent grade ambient temp, service factor is 1.1 means 10% overload is allowded, so no problem. Does this motor is equipped with thermisters?, have you interfaced protection for overtemp, how is the cooling i.e. volume & cooling air temp, is the direction of rotation of cooling motor is correct (in case of external cooling) needs to be check, moniter. Hope this answers your query. DEEP.

This is practical as it gives you some ‘fudge‘ in estimating horsepower needs andactual running horsepower requirements.

Chetan2490 Posts: 149 Rating: (16)	Dear, service factor of motor is 1.00 or 1.15 .almost all electric motors rated at 1.5horsepower or more have a service factor of 1.15 or greater. a motor with a 1.00service factor is usually a very small motor like an exhaust fan in residentialbathroom. if a motor has 1.00 service factor all that means is that it can onlyoperate at 100% of its rated amperage. a motor with a 1.15 service factor canperiodically be run at 115% of its rated amperage without damaging the motor.
