mm440 drive tripping on dc overvoltage ( F002)

arumugashankar Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	dear all, I am facing dc overvoltage problem in my mm 440 drive. application: conveyor system for reel transfering. motor full load amp : 2.1 A I have checked the running load is normally 0.7 A to 0.85 A . I have increased the deceleration time to3 sec beyond which it is overtravelling the present conveyor. I dont want to use braking resistor here. At present drive is of V/F control .p1300 to 0. I tried in SLVC but the case is worse and drive frequency set point is very low. I dont know why? Pls give me direct answer in which parameter i should look to avoid this problem.

You have two choices seeing as you don't want to use Dynamic braking. You can use DC or Compound braking. The parameters are listed at the front of each section. But I am facing different kind of problem: The drive is generating dc overvoltage fault while motor running(before off 1) and not after stopping.i have enabled the dc braking option but of no use. Can u pls clarify why dc overvoltage is coming while motor running and which parameter I can play to control this

Graeme Platinum Expert Joined: 6/4/2008 Last visit: 10/10/2024 Posts: 1502 Rating: (325)	Hi, unfortunately, the laws of physics can't be broken by drives technology (not yet anyway) Your load of a reel (Paper or steel, does not really matter which) will be travelling at X m/s, if your setpoint changes from 70% to 30% for example, the drive then uses the ramp rate you supply to try and decelerate the load from the upper to the lower speed at the specified ramp rate. If the rate is too steep, then the excess energy from the load (inertia) must go somewhere. There is a VDC Max controller in the MM4 series of drives, but this works by extending the ramp rate to keep the DC Voltage within limits, however, any increase in ramp rate will result in an overshoot as you have already stated. It looks like you are limited to two choices, install a braking resistor (Cheap), or use a drive with regenerative capability (Expensive). Regards, Graeme

Sure, the parameterisation is fine, but you need a DC brake start signal - P1230) But I still don't understand how this is going to help you. Remember . . . . Can u pls clarify why dc overvoltage is coming while motor running" DC Injection braking will only start (after OFF1 is received) once 10Hz is reached on the deceleration and the demag time (P347) has completed, after which the DC braking will be applied for 3 seconds. Granted, the drive will stop before the 3 seconds is completed, but this will change nothing, you will still suffer from F002. Given that your TOTAL time for ramp down from 75Hz is 2 seconds before a conveyor overun occurs . . .I think you are wasting your time. Why don't you want to fit a resistor? Regards, Graeme
