Analog Input Connection in S7-400H

Simatic.SV Advanced Member Joined: 11/5/2005 Last visit: 9/21/2025 Posts: 20 Rating: (1)	I'm comissioning an S7-400H system (CPU414-H= 6ES7 414-4HJ04-0AB0) with redundant ET200M's (IM153-2= 6ES7 153-2BA01-0XB0) using analog and ditial I/Os. The digital I/Os work fine, but I have trouble with the analog inputs. The connected instrumentation is 4..20mA 2 wire transducers. I configured the AI Modules as 4DMU (C position side "cube") and powered the loop of the transducers sepparately, as stated in the manual. I tried to follow the basic connection diagrams in the "S7-400H Fault Tolerant Systems" manual, but I'm not clear about the speciffic Zener Diodes connection and the connection of M-, Mana, comp+ and M terminals for these current inputs. I also would like to know if I have to disconnect in the HW-Config those analog inputs which are spare or if I have to place some bridges or other connections for these free inputs. Does anyone please have an example diagram of these current input connections and perhaps an example program to make sure I have placed al RED_xxx FCs and FBs in the correct OBs. Thanks!

Simatic.SV Advanced Member Joined: 11/5/2005 Last visit: 9/21/2025 Posts: 20 Rating: (1)	Dear Umencho, perhaps I failed to specify that the analog inputs I'm using are of the S7-300 family, connected to the ET200M Interfaces. The analog modules I'm using are 6ES7331-7KF02-0AB0 and they are not shown in the manual you indicated me. I tried to find an equivalent redundant connection for S7-400H in the manual, but it is also not shown there. Thanks for any further help.

I still have problems reading the inputs in the STEP7 program when I pull the front connector of one of the redundant pair analog inputs, simulating the extraction of a module for replacement. I think it has something to do with all the FCs and FBs calls in the different OBs, but I'm not sure. Does someone have a working example ofa correctSTEP7 program for S7-400H redundancy, specially regarding the reading the analog I/O reading and writing? Thanks a lot!
