I hope there is a solution to this problem i have, wich does not allow me to update the TIa Portal Basic V.14 to the SP1 Version.

It is simply to describe: Every time i use TIa Portal Update... it shows an error message like "Service BITS stops working..." then i must turn on that service manually to try to download the update again, with no luck.

EDIT: I am a WIndows 10 user.

Consider NOT using the Update application.

The trial versions of all the softwares are available on the Siemens web pages. The trial versions are actually the same as those you would buy from Siemens - except the license keys.

From experience from upgrading previous versions (V13)  -

1. Get all the updates you need from the web. Make very sure you get the software for ALL the units of TIA Portal. Note also that some are not available yet.
   
2. Move your license keys to a USB drive
3. Uninstall all your TIA Portal softwares.
4. Install all the new softwares.
5. Move the license keys back onto your PC.

There were some guys who had problems with the simulator. The expert on the forum suggested they uninstall the software and reinstall fresh + directly the V14 SP1.

I had the same issue. Right click on Total Integrated Automation UPDATER > more > Open File Location. Right click on Totally Integrated Automation UPDATER and go to Properties. Click on Advanced and check the box for Run as administrator. Click Ok, Apply, and OK. It should work now without the BITS error.

 If the doesn't work, try Right click on Total Integrated Automation UPDATER > more > Run as Administrator.

TIA software updater. the BITS service has stopped. Please restart...

Same here.

My solution was:

1. If you follow the "My Downloads" hyper link on the top left of the window.
2. It will take you to a folder something like "15.0.0.3".
3. In it there will be an EXE and TXT file.
4. So even though the service says its stopped, the update has been downloaded.
5. Run the EXE file to extract the package into a folder "SIMATIC TIAP V15.0 Upd3". It could be several GB so it takes a while. Doesn't everything in TIA?
6. Then just run the START.EXE file in the folder to install.

Hope this works for you as well.

For TIA 15,  I tried this and it works some times. I could update 2 software packages.  But sometimes BITS services stops again and then I have to reboot to try my luck again.
