Hi legacy, i have gone through manual but not clear idea, i think it is used just for passing communication from one module to next module if we have any module gap between inserted series of module. otherwise it will give system fault? VP |

Dearviralpatel,
I'm sorry but this seems to be incorrect. As far as I remember the reserve module was just a piece of plastic that had no electronics inside. The ET200iSP is hot swappable which means if you remove one module, the back plane bus will continue to work without problems. However, for easons I don't know It was not allowed to remove more than one electronic module (even in nonconsecutive slots) at a single time. Best regards. H-H

HelloSMHZ, I really can't find a reason to reopen this thread. Anyhow, I'm afraid what you said seems to be incorrect.
Termination "marking the end" is done by the terminating module that comes withterminal modules TM-IM/EM and TM-IM/IM. Reserve module has nothing to with termination or passing communication to next modules. If you don't intend to use the last empty slot you can just put a slot cover and there will be no error. The empty slots must be covered either by slot cover (only for last slot) or by a reserve module. I hope the use of reserve module is clear now. Best regards, H-H
