Dear fritz, nice explanation. I have one doubt regarding "Note that only the I/O's are updated in the Process Image that exist as physical I/O's (i.e. the gaps in the I/O address range are NOT updated and do NOT consume Image update time)" if my adress range is 0-258 i should put process image area as 258.(as per faq given as link) if it is 0-124, then 300-424. then what should be the range ?? 248 or 424 ??? in one of our customer place, am getting process image update error after adding extra remote stations, but it contains only CP/1SI modules(in newly added stations) . no physical input and output present. how i can trace the problem ? i made process image size from 6k to 8k. but still problem exists. cpu is 416 regards vipz

It should be 425 to cover the entire range of 0-424 (providing you want the all I/O's in the Process Image). The Process Image for the range 125 - 299 will simply not be updated in this case (as there are physical I/O's for that range). As for your process image update error after adding extra remote stations, please check the Diagnostic buffer for more info (and/or post a copy of it here). Question: Is the newly added remote I/O station healthy? |

No it will NOT work dear vipz.
I 400.0 is a memory location in the Process Image of the Inputs (PII) and if your PII is only 256 Bytes long, this addresswill NOT exist.
That won't work eitherfor the same reasons as above (neither PII address IW400 or I400.0exist since PII is only 256 Bytes long). What you can do though is to use a memory word (or DBW) for example: L PIW400 T MW 400 // (or any free MW address) A M 400.0 I hope this helps |

hi, one access to the periphery would increase the cycletime of the PLC, but not significant. There must be many of those accesses to notice them. It also depends on CPU type and version, how much it takes. there´s a manual, where those times are listed for S7-300 PLCs: SIMATIC S7-300 Instruction list S7-300 CPUs and ET 200 CPUs Have a look in chapter 9.31.4 "Execution times for address access to I/O" regards, |
