Hello MicroMan; First detail: the AVC has been discontinued from last quarter 2018, it has now been replaced by the SISC service: Total discontinuation of product „Automation Value Card (AVC)" https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109761476 Siemens Industry Service Card (replacement of AVC) https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/sc/4869/siemens-industry-service-card?lc=en-WW Both service were/are provided by Siemens for extended support on projects above the regular Product Support (free, available through the link at the top of this page). That free Product Support includes the Manuals, FAQs, Application examples and Downloads we often refer to when we answer questions on the forum. The extended support (through purchase of a SISC, now) is to be used for configuration and programming help for more difficult projects. The SISC, as the AVC that preceded it, are purchased products from Siemens support. Where the AVC offered time-limited support, the SISC id available per ticket (until the issue is solved, I presume). Now, for your original question: The AVC and SISC are products sold by Siemens, with a MLFB, same as a hardware or software products. What you are asking is if our participation in the forum could be linked to accumulative credit towards purchase of Siemens automation products. This is debatable, maybe, but until now our interventions (questions and answers) have always been deemed non-commercial, on a voluntary basis. I doubt that would change any time soon. Our Moderators have tried to generate interest in forum participation through Premium Campaigns over the years. These campaigns offered prized of derivative (non-automation) Siemens products based on the amount of member interventions. Notice that the last campaign was in 2016, and that in the last years many higher-ranking members declined to participate.In my case it was because I did not like the competitive frenzy that took over the forum during campaigns, with excessive (non-useful) postings and questions generated by members trying to improve ratings instead of simply providing help. I have a feeling these results could dampen Moderator enthusiasm to create a credit accumulation system towards he purchase of Siemens automation products. Just my thoughts. Hello, and thank you to MicroMan for this interesting thread. Many people here in the forum spend time to help Siemens costumers, of course first reward for these people is an increse in their knowledge. This is a lot but sometime it is not enough... One example that comes to mind: In the past i worked with Wincc (up to ver 7.4), my actual company dont use this software so i can no longer partecipate in this forum because i dont have a license. Why dont ask to AUTOMATION LICENSE MANAGER developper to add a special key for top forum user? E.g. a full key for every Siemens software with a time limit (so it can't be used in daily work). I hope other forum member will share their opinion. Best Regards |
