Hi! My name is Aakash and I am an intern at Siemens Kuwait and am a first year student at the University of Manchester. I am working with Dr. Haider Al-Mohri to create a face-recognition system using the SIMATIC IOT2000 device along with a functioning Logitech C525 camera (connected by USB). For now, I am running the Yocto-Linux 4.4.154 system on the IOT2000. I have tried running the Debian created by Stefan-Fuchs, but I am unable to find the right IP address to connect to a host device and get started. Does any know the correct IP address to access this OS from host (putty w/X11 forwarding) ? As I am making an access-control system, I will need a GUI and a program which allows me to run .exe files. Any suggestions on this? Would it be possible to do so y making my own image from scratch somehow using the github link provided to build my image (https://github.com/siemens/meta-iot2000) . For the face-recognition software, I am using a Microsoft API (Face API), which comes under AI/ ML. And I need the apt-get and install scripts, which are not installed, even though the Yocto-Linux system runs Python3. Any suggestions on how to get these scripts? I am running this on a router as not to use Siemens network which is a little restrictive in installing software. Link to Microsoft API : https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/cognitive-services/face/ Link to API documentation : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cognitive-services/face/quickstarts/csharp Any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you in advance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

This is an image of the basic set-up with ethernet connected to host and power connected. |

Hello Aakash, To be honest, the requirements on your project tell me that you might be better off using a different hardware (like an IPC127E). You will spend a lot of time trying to work around some issues, and most likely will not find a solution to all of them. First of all, we do not recommend using the Debian image as it is not fully functional on the IOT2000. You won't be able to use packages over apt-get as the repos are mostly not applicable with the Intel Quark architecture. You also can't run .exe files on the IOT2000 as these are limited to Windows and we only run a Yocto Linux. If you were to implement a GUI for your application you would have to use a web interface and a backend e.g in NodeJS. I'm not familiar with Face API, but if you need to run C# on Linux, you won't succeed without building an Image with Mono Runtime. If you have further questions, feel free to ask. Kind regards! |
