VlvPosL is a new-ish APL block (only since 8.2 I think) and doesn't have a PTT because Siemens haven't updated them recently (and probably won't ever, since things are moving toward CMTs). You can see even in BPCM (CMT library) that Siemens doesn't give you a CMT for even VlvMotL since its not common. Its quite a complex block so even if there was a template, you would still need to customize a lot depending on your use case. You basically need to look at the VlvMot (VavleMotor PPT) and VlvAnL (ValveAnalog PTT) templates and 'smash them together' on your own and read the help to decide how exactly you need the new PTT/CMT you create to work. Even from your requirements as I read them, it just tells me which channel drivers you would need, not anything about feature bits setting or local operations requirements, etc. |

Let me share a bit here. Feedback Closed/ Feedback Open, check with vendor, what % of the valve define as Closed and Opened. Sometimes, when there is a torque fault, the valve unable to open 100% or close until 0%. For my case, because I used Profibus, my PTT design eventually changed to only rely on the position feedback as open and close. i took >97% as open, <3% as closed. For Selector Switch, there are three modes in the field, off, local and remote. For your case, you can only determine two modes, Remote or Non-Remote. No issue, it is better in this case, then the design will be less complicated. For Torque Fault Closed and Torque Fault Open, my actual design, I did not connect them to the VlvPosL. I connect them to ExtMsg1, and change the message class to warning with high priority. When torque fault happened, you cannot do anything. For example, operator change the valve percentage to close, the valve stuck at 10% , the only thing the operator can do is , change the valve command to open and change it back to close to eliminate the torque fault. If not, someone has to go over to the field to troubleshoot the valve, but switching it to local, close it or use manual wheel to turn the valve. Actual Torque, you may connect it to UserAna1 or UserAna2 to provide additional information to operators. Actual Position, you can connect to Rbk. Rbk will be the most reliable inputs you will see in valve control. My suggestion is, use a compare block, when actual position >97% , set the Open Fbk to 1, and vice versa to close. If not, sometimes when you cannot get Open or close feedback, you will exceed the dynamic monitoring time and control system fault will trigger for the valve. For Position Control, you must ensure the "Setpoint On" is always on in that valve. If not, no matter what percentage you sent to that valve, the valve will not response. It will only respond to Open, Close or Stop. Assuming the Setpoint On is always on, yes, you may control the valve with only one AO. Be careful when the error happened, not sure whether do you need a reset output or not. If I am not wrong, the valve consists of open, close, stop, reset and setpoint on command. I gave you an example screenshot here. this is from my project, i used Profibus Auma. I did not change to channel driver block, but for channel driver block, it will be even easier as you do not need to convert the word input to boolean like me. I hope you find this helpful ~ |
