Hello HiddenMan; This is a question that comes often when users are working with Siemens fieldbuses, and the answer is mostly the same always: there are no specific GSD/GSDML files for individual modules on a distribiuted I/O rack. If you are using an ET 200SP installation, with a IM 155-6PN head module for Profinet for example, then the GSDML file exists only for the header module. Once the GSDML file for the IM 155-6PN is integrated into Step 7, you can setup the IM 155-6PN as an IO Devoce on the Profinet network, and then select your HART module form the listy of available modules for that IO device. Here is an extract from the manual for the ET 200SP HART module, showing how to use the GSDML file for the ET 200SP head module to set it up as part of the IO Device. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109779534/109015323275 The pages that follow the extract discuss the address space for th HART module, and how to access the hART variables through parameters. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Thanks for the response and info. That all makes sense, and I understand there is no GSDML for a single module. The problem I seem to be having is that I've tried several different versions of the GSDML file for the ET200SP HA head module I'm using and none of them support the AI module in use. Or at least they don't support it for third party profinet software. All the other modules in use work just fine. Maybe I need an older or newer version of the GSDML file I'm using, but if that is the case I haven't been able to find one with the correct values. I'm still very much learning and there is probably something I don't understand. I suppose what it boils down to is if https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ch/de/view/109781191 https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ch/de/view/109770922/127759584907
Thanks again for any insights |
