We are using a centralized SIMATIC Logon on a domain server (WS2008R2). It is planned that every SIMATIC production plant can connect to this centralized SIMATIC logon.

Today, we would like to connect a WinCC-Server to this centralized SIMATIC Logon Server. The WinCC-Server is behind a firewall and the port 16389 is open. The WinCC-Server belongs not to the domain.

For WinCC flexible projects is it quite easy. There is a checkbox to activate the SIMATIC logon and the configuration (ports, domain, server name) is next to it.

Question: Where and what are the WinCC-Server settings to use the centralized SIMATIC Logon?

Like George said before, the machine must belong to a Domain.

If the Windows server that Simatic Logon is pointing at is not a member of a domain, then it will be the local users.

It can only get domain users if it is member of a domain. This is how Windows works (not Simatic Logon).

If your domain admin allowed you to install Simatic Logon directly on a domain controller, you could get the domain users without being logged on, but then you would bypass the normal setup where you have a backup domain controller, etc.

To be more clear:

The SIMATIC Logon is installed on a windows server. This Windows Server is a member of the domain. I have tested this configuration with WinCC flexible and everything is fine.

Now, I have a WinCC-Server which is not in the domain (behind a firewall). See attachment.

Can I use the SIMATIC Logon above?
Do I have to install SIMATIC Logon on the WinCC Server as well and configure it in the "working environment/another computer" to point at the SIMATC Logon Server?

Simatic Logon is part of WinCC / PCS7 so yes, just install it.

And if the domain allows access from the workgroup to the domain, then yes, I think it should work when you point to the Simatic Logon server.
