Tia Portal v13 SP1 upd 9 can works on Win10, however, (and by my own experience) not re-install the programm may cause some error and conflicts between the software and the iOS.

What I have seen:

- PG/PC interfases tend to dissapiar or automatically change in the PG/PC interface Setup.    Solution: Reinstall TIAP thoroughly or modify it with the setup. Then, Modify PG/PC interfaces and install Automation tool so, it avoid software autoset the PG/PC interfaces.

- Comunication between WinCC and HMI interfaces when use S7-300 CPUs provoke crashes: when compile HMI, TIAP crashes.  Solution: Modify TIAP by Setup or reinstall (WinCC must be reinstalled).

- "Cannot compile HMI, cannot access to the project path" error when change the project directory.   Solution: Close TIAP. Open task administrator and close  "Siemens.Automation.ObjectFrame.FileStorage.Server" as well. Erase "IM" folder from the project and finally open the project and compile.

-  When modify or reinstall TIAP, Automation License Manager crash or cannot be open (dlls missing).   Solution: Uninstall ALM thoroughly fro  your PC, preferably with other program, such as YourUninstaller. Install an older versión of the ALM, e.g. ALM v5.1 + upd 1.

- Cannot simulate with S7-PLCSIM Simulating Modules software, every input, output, MB, etc, is blocked and simulated PLC does not run.   Solution: Reinstall S7-PLCSIM and thats all =)

I have not had other problems. If I have another and find the solution, I will share it.

All will appear good but the Automation License Manager will not install properly and it will complain of missing DLLs.   When you try and edit a block it will become evident that your license is not available.   WinCC Comfort breaks the PG/PC interface entirely.   You won't be able to find a connected PLC with WinCC Comfort installed.

It appears that V14 is more compatible with Windows 10.. so far.  At least the ALM that ships with V14 seems to work with Windows 10.

 I just installed Portal V13 SP1+Update 9, WinCC Comfort/Advanced, Safety, PLC-SIM, etc on my new Win10 Professional machine and have had ZERO issues with using it. It finds PLC's, compiles, simulates, etc.

What I did right after installing was right click portal -> "Troubleshoot Compatibility" ->"Troubleshoot Program" -> Select first box "The Program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run now" -> Select Windows 7, and BAM all is swell

• SIMATIC STEP 7 Basic V13.0 SP1 Update 9
• SIMATIC WinCC Comfort/Advanced V13.0 SP1 Update 9

Everything is working and there was no problem with the installation.

The only problem I had was that I couldn't communicate with the PLC (S7-1200 1214FC DC/DC/DC). I also couldn't find anything with Primary Setup Tool. Other than that, the program worked. I found the SOLUTION was to run the either program in the "Run as administrator" option, only then everything magically started communicating and was reachable.

we see that the new versions of windows are coming more quickly than the new versions of TIA , if i want to buy a new windows laptop/PC in 2018 should i go for windows 10 or windows 7.

I buy a new Notebook in spring last year.
Simatic Software was not released for W10, so I order the Notebook with DOWNGRADE on Win7 because it was hard to find a Notebook with native Win7 Installation.
This Installation is running fine and I can do an update to W10 if I like.

These days, it will be more difficult to get a Notebook with Win7 Installation...

The most SIMATIC Software that I need (Step7, TIA, WinCCflex) is running also with W10 now, but still not smoothly.

I still like Win7 very much, but in "some years", Microsoft will stop the updates and then you have to upgrade to W10.

My Suggestion: Try to get W10 with Win7 downgrade, than you have both Installation DVD und may do an upgrade to W10 later if requested.
If you can't get this option any more, you have to use W10.

Also you can install Win7 at a VM on a W10 host.
But watch it! The free of Charge "Windows Virtual PC" is not included in W10 any more, you have to use an additional VM.
