Connecting with LOGO 0ba7 over internet - SOLVED

Dion64 Posts: 47 Rating: (5)	I am trying to establish a connection between LOGO!Soft Comfort and a LOGO! type 0ba7, connected to my router. This works when I try to connect to the LOGO on my LAN. But if I try to connect from an outside computer, I can not establish a connection and that is exactly what I want to do. I want remote access. I forwarded port 10001 on my router to the IP address of the LOGO (192.168.1.90). I don't have a fixed IP address, my router connects to the internet with DHCP but since my PC is always on, the IP address does not change. I also double-checked the IP address from my router and I am sure the IP-address is correct. So I fill this in for a transfer of PC > LOGO but I always get the error: "Can not access the IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx." (IP address of my router to outside). I have tried to ping my IP address and that works (if I disable the built-in firewall of my router). The connection to my router from LOGO!Soft comfort does not work, even if I disable the firewall. What else is there I can try? Or do outside connections only work when the router has a fixed IP address? Thanks for any help!

Dion64 Posts: 47 Rating: (5)	After hours and hours of trial and error I finally found at least a partial solution. What I did: LOGO! PLC connected to my router at fixed IP address 192.168.1.90 (IP setting in LOGO!) Local PC connected to my router at fixed IP address 192.168.1.99 Forward port 10001 to my local PC in stead of the LOGO! in the router Forward IP address 192.168.1.99 port 10001 to IP address 192.168.1.90 port 10001 For the latter I used a linux utility called rinetd, which is also available for windows, seehttp://mattiasgeniar.be/2010/04/14/tcp-traffic-redirection-on-windows/ So now the data traffic goes through my router, then through my PC and then to the LOGO! This works. I wonder however why it does work this way and not directly from router to LOGO! Maybe someone has a clue about that? Thanks, Dion

Dion64 Posts: 47 Rating: (5)	Stupid me ... found the very simple solution: I had my gateway address in the logo wrong. It should point to the IP-adress of the router. When I changed that it worked pefectly. Also for the LOGO smartphone app.

I can connect to the Logo! through the LAN (by using an IP like 192.168.1.121 that I have assigned to the Logo!) but I cannot access it through the internet. My Logo! is connected to a router which has a LAN IP 192.168.1.1 and I'm using that as a gateway IP in the Logo!. I have also forwarded port 10001 in my router to the Logo! IP (192.168.1.121) but when I try to access it from outside the LAN, I get no response. Could you please explain in more detail your settings at the Logo! and @ the comfort software? Do you use internal or external IPs? Do you specify a port somewhere? Thank you in advance, DB.

Dion64 Posts: 47 Rating: (5)	Hi bartzos, OK, so in detail: On the LOGO! PLC: IP address: 192.168.1.121 --> this might be a tricky address. Many routers have a default setting that will assign addresses above 192.168.1.100 to DHCP so I take a lower address normally (below xxx.xxx.xxx.100) to be sure it is a fixed IP address that does not cause any conflicts with other clients. So better take for instance 192.168.1.90 or something like that. Check that no other device (PC, printer or other peripheral) uses this same IP address. Net Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 You don't have to set this manually on the LOGO! PLC but can also let LOGO!Soft Comfort take care of that (see below) In the router: forward port 10001 to 192.168.1.90 (or what yo have chosen as the IP address of the logo). In LOGOSoft Comfort! Go to menu item: Tools > Ethernet connections In the screen that comes up, fill in the internal IP address of the LOGO PLC: IP adress: 192.168.1.90 (or something else) Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 Then go to the smaller section below called peer-to-peer connections. You see the text: "Ethernet connections" there. Right-click and choose "Add". A connection is added. Double-click and fill in the fields: Checkbox "server connection" to "on" Local properties (server): TSAP: 02.00 Check: connect with an operator panel Check: Accept all connection requests Remote properties (client): TSAP: 01.00 Don't check the 'Enable keep alive' button. Save the LOGO program and upload it to the LOGO PLC. This will overwrite the IP settings in your LOGO! PLC Then, if you want to connect over the internet to your LOGO PLC from outside your LAN: Go to Tools > transfer > Configure Network address Here you click "Select" and then "Add" IP-adress: external IP adress to your router. You can look that up with www.whatismyip.com Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: don't fill in anything here That should do it. Hope it works for you!
