CP5511 communication card - problem in Win XP

xarisss Posts: 43 Rating: (0)	Hello to everyone, I am facing a problem installing the CP5511 communication card on the PCMCIA slot of my laptop. I followed all the possible procedures described in the Siemens support entries, but with no result. I have also downloaded drivers for the card from this site, but the problem is always the following: When i rebbot my laptop, the new hardware wizard of win xp starts. I proceed, and choose the drivers, in order to install them. While the system installs the found drivers, the system stucks. It has done this many times, with different drivers. My OS is Windows XP Professional, v.2002, SP2. Has anybody faced something like this? Thanks in advance, Charis

jklm Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, be aware that the CP5511 is a 16 bit PCMCIA card. And new laptops will not always continue to support 16 bit PCMCIA. Look for compatibilty in this document: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/29034765

See the following link for further information http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279256 You need just to save the following text with notepad as a .reg file, then double click it and restart your laptop, which should then recognize your CP5511 correctly. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pcmcia\Parameters] "DisableIsaToPciRouting"=dword:00000001

Even it could be say they don't support. I have both cards - CP5511 and CP5512. If I try to use the first one, I received the same symptoms like you. And my notobook has Windows XP with used this tools for disable IRQ and make possible using CP5511. With other cards I haven't any problems. bes regards

xarisss Posts: 43 Rating: (0)	Thanks a lot for the help. The solution of the problem was that modification in registry. I did it and now the CP5511 works ok. However, i don't know whar will happen if i put a 32bit PCMCIA card on the laptop.

After the reading of this thread, I have tryed again with my CP5511 and it functions correctly. I thinck that could help some people Bests regards PHILCAT
