Hi,

I managed to connection various PLCs with Siemens PLC in nearly all ways (Modbus, Profinet, Profibus and Ethernet tcp ip). One thing what I'm still missing connection my B&R PLC with Siemens PLC using Ethernet Powerlink. Now I know for sure that Powerlink is B&R's exclusive, but I would like to know if there is any POWERLINK hw module for Siemens CPUs.

I dont think that there is hw module that supports a connection via POWERLINK. You can use a CP343 for communication with Ethernet TCP/IP, but not directly for POWERLINK.

Hi,

I found out this module EX282 B&R. Obviously it's likely that I'll need cp343 + some king of gateway between them. And here I have a problem because I do not really know what to use as gateway. Do you have any idea what to use? I'll tell you more, I even do not know if gateway is a physical module or a program or whatever it is...

Hi Janko,

since POWERLINK is an open standard (open source) you find a variety of suppliers for this technology. Unluckily Siemens is fully committed to Profinet and therefore doesn't provide a POWERLINK CP yet. But you can place a product request and they can download the POWERLINK stack free of charge from sourceforge.net

The gateways that were referred earlier basically have two Ethernet ports: one that "speaks" POWERLINK and the other one IP. Therefore using this hardware in between the CP343 and the POWERLINK network makes the data exchange in between the Siemens world and the B&R world possible.

Hi Mr,

thank you for your reply. Now I have a big picture what I'm suppose to do! But I have one doubt. Looking at the CP343-1 datasheet, it clearly saying that CP343 is used for allowing S7-300 to connect on Industrial Ethernet. 

Datasheet of CP343 that I found is: CP343-1

Now, the question is: do I need CP343 if I use CPU 317-2 PN/DP which already has Industrial Ethernet connection integrated? I used this connection for establishing the connection with B&R CPUs by the way.
