What type of block (FB/FC)?  What type of tag (input, output, InOut)?

Have you considered installing SP1 and latest updates to your V14 install to see if that fixes it?  V15.1 Update 3 allows the grayed parameter for an FB.

What would be the reason that "Hide if no parameter is assigned" option would be greyed out?

This is actually on 15.1 and update 3. It is a FC with just some bools for switching, setup as inputs and outputs to/from the FC with real world IO used as the ins and outs of the FC. I have noticed if i change it to an FB it works just fine, I'm just curious as to why it wont work with an FC.

i think is because you must assign a actual parameter to each formal parameter in a FC.

in a fb you must not do this, so some formalparameters have no assigned parameter an then they can be hidden.
