The mixer shaft has two studs that act as pick up points for a inductive proximity switch. I plan to feed the pulses into the logo high speed input. Im expecting the rate to move around a bit so some variable damping would be a good idea. The mixer shaft speed will not exceed 200 RPM so I dont think thats an issue. Has any one else done somthing remotely like this. Russ_A

I have tried changing the maths for a four pulse per rev set up but if I still get a 5 RPM increment jump if I slightly increase the input frequency.

If you tell pulses every 10 sec and multiplied by 6 so as to obtain results per minute is the smallest step so 6. In order that is too avoid the measurement time should for longer to be. Then your reading is very slow. You can also measure differently. Measure the time between two pulses, out or mathematical calculating it is back onto the number of revolutions. 60 parts of by the time. Even then you make mistakes because you just do a time pulse and just does not count.
