Ali reza esfahani Posts: 12 Rating: (2)	i have some thing for you.... my last project in college refer to ProfiBus and communication with a SIEMENS PLC's we design and implementation our project on a AT91SAM7S128 ARM microcontroller. my means we have a module on ARM base mcu that can handle whole PROFIBUS stack with 32-bit digital I/O i wanna public my project on net so everyone be able to design a module that connect to a PLC with profibus on ARM/AVR/PIC or even a 8051 microcontroller be patient its coming soon this is a video that approve above mention http://www.speedyshare.com/file/2KHYT/ProfiBus-on-ARM.rar enjoyyyyy please send to me you'r comment or advice

Ali reza esfahani Posts: 12 Rating: (2)	the mysterious of profibus A profibus DPv1.1 have 4 state to going in dataexchange Power-on Parameterization Configuration Data exchange Power -on state: in power on state the module scan self and reading external DIP switch to get own address if address set between 0-125 and also a internal test done its proceed to next state"parameterization " in this state the module reject all telegram from other master except class 2 telegram's that use as address change. if internal test ok we going to parameterization in ARM and in this state a baud rate function execute for find a sequence of character 0x68 LEN LEN2 0x68 if following sequence find on media we lock on a right baud rate and pass to parametrization we in next phase describe about 0x68 LEN LEN2 0X68 telegram's dont worry in this point and set relax A slave will be held in this state if it does not have a valid address from 0-125. After completion of its power-on initialization routine and if the slave has a valid station address, the slave will proceed to the Wait for Parameterization state. Parameterization State: in this state a special telegram with a valid address and a SSAP /DSAP should recieve from a master .slave reject all telegram's that not valid. after a configuration telegram or a diagnostics telegram recieved slave set a few parameter's such as watch-dog timer , timing parameter and etc that Profibus protocol need for a right operation by default .if a configuration telegram recieve "SSAP/DSAP = configuration you'rself" slave read config telegram and will config them then send a ack to master .if a diagnostics telegram recieve slave send a not config telegram to master so master know that following slave hold in parameterization state and in nex polling master send a configuration telegram to slave . I/O Configuration State In this state, the slave awaits a configuration telegram that specifies the number of input and output bytes that are to be exchanged in each data telegram cycle with the slave. The configuration telegram also causes the slave to check the configuration which was sent against the stored configuration. A slave in this state will accept a request telegram for diagnostics or configuration, or a set parameters telegram. in this state a master say to a slave "who you are" namely a master specify for a slave number input's and output that should read and or write in a data exchange state also a slave should scan i/o on rack and match each other with part numbers that recieved in last state for confirm after all we going to a data exchange in data exchange a master send his data to a slave in polling and recieve data from slave in replay and go to next nod in profibus you should familiar with a few telegram structure we explain for you more about them

Ali reza esfahani Posts: 12 Rating: (2)	I table a few main telegram's which in profibus used Format Value Data Field Length SD1 10H 0 bytes (No Data Field) SD2 68H 1 to 32 bytes (or up to 244) SD3 A2H 8 bytes fixed. SD4 DCH 0 bytes (No Data Field) SC E5H 0 bytes (No Data Field), Short Acknowledge there is telegram's that profibus use. 0x10,.0x68,0xDC,0xE5 is main SD "start delimiter" that we sould consider also a few SSAP/DSAP is table here Default SAP=0 Cyclical Data Exchange (Write_Read_Data) SAP54 Master-to-Master SAP (M-M Communication) SAP55 Change Station Address (Set_Slave_Add) SAP56 Read Inputs (Rd_Inp) SAP57 Read Outputs (Rd_Outp) SAP58 Control Commands to a DP Slave (Global_Control) SAP59 Read Configuration Data (Get_Cfg) SAP60 Read Diagnostic Data (Slave_Diagnosis) SAP61 Send Parameterization Data (Set_Prm) SAP62 Check Configuration Data (Chk_Cfg) Ref EN502170

Ali reza esfahani Posts: 12 Rating: (2)	Marko yaa i saw his project Profibus master on a PC-base i have same project befor ARM7 in c# A RS23-2-USB and a Differential chip driver just use for last project on my lop-top my loptop coming online as a valid node with 178500kb/s

Ali reza esfahani Posts: 12 Rating: (2)	Hi to every one we have a question about ProfiBus as you know our last project refer to ProfiBus on a ARM7/9 my source code programming on polling technique . but my Employer ask me a EVENT method for programming so issue's about reliability and safe keep my question is that is it possible a protocol such as Profibus that in foundational not a event-oriented protocol programming with a event-oriented method in C/C++ ? I hope you have noticed my means ! best regards

Easier to find a dev. board withethernet port, rather then use high speed rs485 transceivers, also the packet header and eth protocol is computed on ethernet controller, not in mcu thus giving a possibility to mcu to use all its power. I am aware that 90% load of mcu isyour protocol stack.
