problem with the wincc client/server configuration

Bobby007 Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	I am also having problem with the Server/Client configuration. I have a single server with multiple clients. According to the document, I shouldn't need to do anything on the client PCs except for importing the server package. It doesn't explain how to import the generated server package on the client. Right now I have my server and client on a workgroup, they are talking, the machines are showing in the Simatic Shell. I've configured the client to start a picture, but when I activate the project on the server, nothing happens on the client's screen. Please help. Splitted from wincc client/server.

CBo Gold Member Joined: 4/5/2006 Last visit: 10/3/2025 Posts: 917 Rating: (63)	Hi Bobby, all information you need are in "WinCC Information System" manual installed with WinCC: windoes START button -> all programs -> simatic -> wincc -> wincc information system. look at chapter Configuration -> Multi-User System -> Server Configuration (Client Configuration) shortly the infor for package data: - open WinCC Server project - to be sure your project is Multiuser (RMC on the project name, select propertiesand set it as multiuser system) - now you can see "Server Data" in WinCC explorer - RMC -> generate - open the WinCC client project - open "Server Data" menu - RMC -> load (select package file browsing the network) all other oprion are described in WinCC Information System best regards

Which tupe do you want connect ? have may type connect between wincc and Plc Example I connect between Wincc and S7-200 i use OPC channel you must use pc access to access the memory of PLC you find it in Communication wincc ,chapter OPC channel it will help you

Bobby007 Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	We are talking about SCADA server connecting to SCADA clients. I am able to display the picture on the client now, but I had to click on the interconnect option in the drop down menu when I right clicked on the server project in the Simatic Shell. I was prompted to login, and then only if I login as someone who has autorization for remote configuration can I open the server project on the client, then if the project is running on the server, the picture configured for the client would then display on the client with some error messages, but it can be operated. Strange thing is that when I logged in on two computers at the same time with different users, the system tag @CurrentUser displays different value on each computer, I wonder where the server store these login names. I am just running a test configuration on a couple of old computers in the office. Running XP professional on all computers. The actual server will be running Windows Server 2003. I think one can only import a server package on a client if the client has a client project opened, but the manual says one only need to create client project if the system is distributed meaning has many servers with different functions. This is all very confusing, any ideas?

There are 2 ways to make server/client configuration: 1 - Server/Client where client has no project . on the server create WinCC Multiuser project .in WinCC Explorer create computer list (your client computer) . on the client station create a link to open .mcp project on the server 2 - Server/Client where client has own project . on the server create WinCC Multiuser project and generate server data .on the client create WinCC Client and import server data from server In both cases you need to configure same user and same password on both PC. Logging name is located in tag @Currentuser but - when you make project in 1st way all PC are connected to same project - when you make project in 2nd way better you check for @local::@Currentuser to get local user Server/Client configuration with WinCC Server on Windows Xp has been tested for WinCC 7 only (not for older version) If you are working with WinCC v6 or newer you can find cnfiguration help in "WinCC Information System" in "Configuration" chapter regards

Bobby007 Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Hi CBo, What do you mean by "configure same user and same password on both PC"? I am using WinCC 7.0 SP1 on Windows XP SP3. Currently I worked out a way to store the usernames in internal tags I created myself. I wonder if it's possible for me to create some global scripts to auto logout for each user that's logged in to the system. Best regards

Bobby007 Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Hi CBo, Thanks for the sample project. for some reason I can only launch the RT on the client from shared network folder on the server and open the project in the WinCC explorer on the client and then click on run button. In order to open the project in WinCC explorer on the client, I need to login as a WinCC user who has remote configuration authorization. How can I just launch the RT without opening the WinCC explorer on the client, then I can launch WinCC explorer in one of the screen if user has the authorization.

In this case you need share project folder from server station and configure same user and password on server and client station both (make easier to have remote access from client PC to server PC). Then use autostart function to start WinCC project when windows start. Sometimes, help to change windows setting in windows explorer: open My computer -> Tools menu -> View tab -> deselect "Use simple file sharing (Recomended)" regards
