Hello The Following FAQ Explains the difference between handling of Analog I/Os in S5 and S7 : How do you convert the values of the modules if you change from S5 to S7 analog modules? Additionally you can download the compilation of FAQs on S5 to S7 conversion from the following thread : FAQs and Tips for S5 to S7 Conversion This includes tips on conversion of PID Loops also. Hope this helps Cheers Navnag |

Hello Well... if you care to go through the details on the links in the previous post, you have sufficient information for Scaling of Analog Inputs and Outputs in S5 and S7 . Since you seem to be interested in more theory attached is an extract from S5 100U manual showing how Analog Inputs and Outputs are scaled ( Including the 6ES5-470 AO Module ). Basically it is scaled 0-1024 (Unipolar ) or -1024 to +1024 (Bipolar ), The Exact bit positions are shown in the attached document. If you wish to read further, Pl download manual of any S5 CPU e.g. 100U / 115U or 135U . Hope this helps Cheers Navnag AttachmentS5_Analog_Scaling.pdf (313 Downloads) |

Hello FINS; When you have finished your conversion from S5 to S7, will you be using S7 analog inputs instead of S5? If you do, the conversion algorithm is completely different, and in the program you should use FC 105 ("SCALE") and FC 106 ("UNSCALE") from the TI-S7 instructions library, instead of trying to convert the S5 conversion instruction to S7. Simply remove the scaling finction from the S5 program, and introduce FC 105 in the S7 program. Here is information of FC 105: How and for which analog measurements can you use the function FC105 'SCALE' to convert the integer values (INT) into real number values? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/1765297 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
