s7-1200 master to read the feedback from GE plc by modbus tcp/ip

chanlu Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hello Everyone I use s7-1200 as master to read the feedback from GE plc by modbus tcp/ip ,and use profibus slave transfer to HMI side,Hmi will give command to s7-1200 profibus slave module, s7-1200 will write this command to GE PLC. Please help me how to make it done. Thanks and Appreciate !

Davinator Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2013 Last visit: 9/10/2025 Posts: 1186 Rating: (106)	Well, PLC<---Profibus----> HMI is pretty simple, you need to equip your PLC with a CM 1242-5. Are you sure you need a Profibus HMI ? Because that board is not so cheap and if you use an HMI with ethernet then you will save much much money. GE<---Modbus TCP/IP---> it is ok because you don't need any new card in S71200 but you need some coding for modbus communication ( refer to : http://w3.siemens.com/mcms/human-machine-interface/en/customized-products/customized-software/Pages/default.aspx?tabcardname=simatic%20modbus/tcp) Have fun :)

However Modbus/TCP Link provided by him is relevant to S7-300/400 PLCs. For S7-1200 / S7-1500, Modbus/TCP is a native protocol and is easily implementable. Here is the correct link for Modbus TCP in S7-1200/1500 : How do you program and parameterize Modbus/TCP communication between S7-1500 CPUs and S7-1200 CPUs?
