hello, i have CPU 1212C and i want to communicate with an power recloser that supports the following protocols (DNP3.0, DNP3.0 over TCP/IP, IEC60870-5-101/104). do i need a special communication card to support any of these protocols by the CPU, or the PLC already supports one of them? Thanks in advance |

Hello, i think you need a additional CP for the S7-1200. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/92603608 Regards |

Thank you. so the proposed communication module will support both DNP 3.0 and IEC. I have a good experience with programming modbus RTU using MB_MASTER and so on. So, my question what blocks needed for either DNP 3.0 and IEC and which one is better? Thanks |

Hello, no this are 2 different CP Modules! For DNP: 6GK7243-1JX30-0XE0 CP 1243-1 DNP3 For IEC: 6GK7243-1PX30-0XE0 CP 1243-1 IEC Please read the application examples how to use this CP modules: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/64721753 https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/87447188 https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/109475749 Regards |

Hi again, the proposed DNP: 6GK7243-1JX30-0XE0 CP 1243-1 DNP3 module is designed to communicate only to SCADA systems? Or also i can connect it to a third party power recloser that supports DNP from the recloser data sheet: Multi-port, multi-protocol communication support (DNP3.0, DNP3.0 over TCP/IP, IEC60870-5-101/104), modem control & dial-up function for SCADA. l DNP3.0 subset level 3 with information index mapping & class assignment. my topology: Recloser (communication protocol: DNP3.0) --> S7-1212c PLC. and this PLC is GPRS direct connect to another PLC to HMI. Thanks |

Hello, no the CP can only work as outstation (DNP) or slave (IEC) in a System. In this the usecase you should show if the Recloser can work with Modbus, here the S7-1200 can configured as Modbus RTU Master Control.

Hello, i have contacted the recloser controller manufacture and i asked them if it can support modbus RTU by adding a new communication card and they confirmed that it is support only DNP 3.0 over TCP and IEC60870-5-104. I'm looking for a DNP 3.0 to modbus RTU converter that if applicable can be installed between the recloser controller and the Siemens PLC. that converter will be as DNP 3.0 master and the recloser will DNP 3.0 as slave. my goal is to poll the recloser measurements "Current, volt , trips readings" from the converter as DNP 3.0 master and poll them by the Siemens S7-1200 through modbus RTU protocol. in addition send the remote control order "ON/OFF" the recloser from the PLC to the converter using modbus protocol and the converter will send the order to the recloser using DNP 3.0 protocol. Do the proposed solution applicable? Thanks in advance |
