I have Step5 V7.23 and i have RS232 to TTY Converter(Which is working on other S5 CPU S5-100,S5-95U) but i could not establish connection between PLC CPU and LapTop. can you tell me the step by step procedure. how can i configure and online with above mentioned CPU.

OvidiuNastac Posts: 419 Rating: (19)	Hi It is OK with the "off the shelf" cable if you have a laptop with a real RS 232 port (not a simulated one as in most of the newest laptops) or a Siemens console. If you can get on line then your system is working. You can check for noise or loose connections but you cannot change connection speeds or anything else. The plc in the 840C is a standard Simatic product adapted for NC. The problem you now have is a general S5 problem and not 840C specific maybe do a search in the S5 forum for help. I would guess that if you can upload and download and get online you will have to live with it droppping out sometimes. Pee
