Hi all,

Every college-year I help >100 students to install TIA Portal on their systems. In the last 6 months I encountered 3 cases where I was not able to help the student to install TIA Portal on his/her laptop. The common factor in these 3 cases seems to be a relatively new laptop with a new build version of Windows 10. The 3 cases are similar, but for the sake of simplicity I will present one of these 3 cases.:

1. After the students runs the first part of the installation in which all the files are extracted, the system needs a restart.  So far, so good.
2. After the restart, the systems starts the 'real installation' which typically takes about 30-40 minutes, but in this case the installation bar does an fast forward within 2 minutes and gives an error--> "An error occurred during setup. Some installed products need licenses. Please start the Automatic License Manager to install licenses and for an overview about licenses on this computer."
3. I've seen this error message before and usually you can ignore it because the installation is fully completed and the students have a trial license for 21 days to start of with. But in these cases the installation has not been completed.
4. In the Setup Report the following error is listed: "19:19:57 |ERROR    AdsWorkerClassicProduct::OnWorkerCompleted():  - ClassicProduct setup result: 2: Exit message:Instance Name WINCCPLUSMIG2014 for product Microsoft SQL Server doesn't exist. Specify a valid instance name."

Specifications:

•  TIA Portal 15.1 Update 5 (installation of Version 1 did not make a difference)
• Windows 10 Version 20H2 OS Build 19042.789
• Setup Report and Error Message Screenshot is attached to this post

Any idea how to solve this installation problem?

If you don't need WinCC flexible migration, please try to install Tia Portal without

"Project Migration for WinCC flexible 2008 SP2/SP3/SP5, SQL installation" option.

If you need it, you could install later manually.

 Thank you Mamabo! This totally solved the problem. We do not need that part of the installation so it was an easy fix!
