How do you access the project?  Do you copy it to your VM, or via a shared or network resource?

If you go back to "the working VM", does the problem go away, or show up there too? 

Are you running 2 VM's simultaneously, or just 1 VM and 2 instances of portal in the same VM?  I cannot tell from your posted image, but it looks like 2 instances of Portal in the same VM.

I would take it down to 1 instance on the computer overall and see what happens.

I am working on a project which used TIA V13 SP1 (PLC: S7-1200) , It was compiling and downloading to the PLC very well when I was working through one VM. But when I connect to another VM, as soon as I make a very small change, such as adding a Tag in one DB, it cannot be complied and download any more. I see “An internal consistency error has occurred” and it ask to compile all of the other FBs and DBs and OBs which already being compiled correctly before. And even by compiling the whole project or even deleting the changes, the error remains.

Solutions such as rebooting the PC didn’t work in my case. and date and Time of both VMs are the same.

I will appreciate if anyone can help me.

 

Honestly, it sounds like Siemens license manager running on the main PC kicking in and shutting it down. Perhaps the original VM was shutdown while consuming a license.  Portal knows when it is running inside a VM and acts differently, especially regarding licensing.  It failed to compile more than once on me when I inadvertently used my V14 license in the main PLC and a VM to compile or simulate or something beside looking at logic where it had a chance to insert an "internal error" result on me.

Call me paranoid, but shutting down just one portal and the other suddenly became fully capable.

Felt like Schrödinger's cat was simultaneously inside and outside a VM.  Yet when I tried to talk to that poor cat in both places, it decided it only liked one place.  That place tended to be anywhere other than where I was currently working.

huggy_d1 - does this sound like a corrupted / damaged project to you? Isn't there some backup files that can be either deleted or restored?

When I had this type issue it was because of a communication issue between PLC and PC. So it is important to notice exactly when this message comes up.

Perhaps also make a screen capture. Perhaps a screen capture of a normal compile action, without download being requested. There are some Europeans that might have some thoughts on the matter.

Suggestion

[VM-working] Was PC online at the time it generated the archive? 

    If so, can you go back to [VM-working]?

    Launch Portal. Go online and verify PLC / PC are in sync (green dots). 

    Now go offline and perform a save-as for that same project.  Now zip that project up manually

    rather than archive it.

Walk that zip file over to [VM-different].

[VM-different] Manually unzip that file into its own directory

   Store the unzipped project in the same folder you have other projects,

   perhaps in "My Documents -> Automation".

   Now Open portal and open unzipped project.

   See if the original problem repeats

Thank you for answering. I took an archive from the working VM, and copy it to the other VM. then Retrieve it from TIA13 in the other VM. the project opened fine and gets online properly, but when I did a small change, it crashed and I confront with an internal error and not able to compile it any more.

if I took the crashed project and  copy it to the working VM, "the working VM" can not compile it either.

in both VMs (the working one and the crashed one) I have installed TIA V13 and TIA V14. but I opened the project just with V13.

The same license is running in both VMs. but when I change the license to the trial license, it still has the same problem.
