pls for first specify your OS, is 32 or 64 bit? It's very important. next pls specify your order number adapter, is Siemens or China brand? Pls consider install any driver on PC with TIA or Step7, it can make disfunction your install, all neded drivers are installed with your Step7 version. So if you put some adapter to USB port and that adapter isn't recognized, it can be non Siemens adapter or you have not Step7 correctly installed. I'm using old 972 adapter (China brand) in TIA v13 SP1 on Win7 x64 without problems.

Update: pls look, some non Siemens adapters doesn't support x64 bit OS systems, in that case for first look at product HW/SW requirements, this is very important.

    I have win 7 64 bits now. I used to work with old adapter with win xp and step 7 v5.3. Now I bought the pc adapter usb A2 because I have TIA V13. I already installed the driver without problem, I will try to connect and I'll post the results.

after many searching i found how install driver for windows 7 64 bits.Firstly driver inside cd in not support win 7 64 bit.It support win 7 32 and xp.Because of this do following under steps.

1. download driver from  ''http://www.driverscape.com/download/simatic-pc-adapter-usb''  Driver Version: 1.0.0.0

2-control panel /setting devices and go over simatic usb driver,update driver and choose path where u download driver folder afterunzip

3- than u will see solving problem.

What do you mean exactly with the second step? "control panel / setting devices / simatic usb driver"... with this pad do you mean the hardware administrator? When I try to update the driver it says that it already has the best controller installed..

you can check other items in your Device Manager, try look for like Simatic USB PC Adapter. Again pls, look to my previous post, I don't recommend change existing driver to other, simply if your adapter is recognized by system and is functional, you don't need update driver in this case.
