Hello, As Marciano mentioned, Diodes are exist for the sake of redundancy. In case you have two redundant modules, then you need that two output signals goes to the same load. And you want to be sure there will not current circulation between both two outputs. So, if the modules are not provided with diodes we have to add external diodes. To conclude, If you have two redundant modules, then you should use pins that have diodes like pin 2 If you have only one single module (i.e. No redundand output signals), then you canuse pin 3. But also if you used pin 2, it will work. Hope this helps.
