My question is how some plc communication like profinet can be run on PC and still worth as fast communication |

I am not planning any, I am just wondering how some fast protocols can run on amachine like pc and still keep performanse |

Hello knezamo; Different protocols may be faster than others, but that does not matter when connecting with a SCADA such as WinCC. I will try to give you an example: Profinet us the native communication link for S7-1200 and S7-1500 CPUs. You can set it up as standard Profinet, Profinet RT (real-time) or Profinet IRT (isochronous real-time, requires special electronics and drivers). Profinet RT can be used for motion control, IRT is designed for synchronous control of multiple motors. You can look up details in the Profinet System manual, in the section Setting up Profinet, Real-time communications: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/19292127 However, when you connect your PLC with WinCC, you are limited to the update cycle of the WinCC tags, which is by default set at 1 sec. However fast you want to set Profinet comms with the WinCC stations, the SCADA will not read faster than it can handle. If not, as you say, it would risk losing data. If what you need is a fast data acquisition system and recorder, maybe you should look into specialized products, such as IBA. https://www.iba-ag.com/en/start/ Hope this helps, |
