I'd say we already have an "unannounced premium campaign per year". It issimplythis forum and the premiums for participation all year round in this "unannounced premium campaign" are: - Gaining knowledgefrom the free exchange of ideas. - Feeling good about being able to have helped someone out there in need. - Being comforted by the thought that you yourself can call upon the help from others in times of need. Best of all, everyone and anyone who participates will recive all of the above premiums! Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. |

Dear Users, for sure, there will be no changes within the terms & conditions of participation during a running campaign. But we will think and discusse about your thoughts and our experience when we are planing the next one. The second point I want to drop into this discussionis published within the Announcement for this campaign:

I'm only here since last september, but this premium campaign looks cool. I would propose to think about running such a campaign not announced at all. It seems some people start posting everywhere, regardless if they have something meaningfull to contribute or not. Just an idea. |

I came here last october cause I was new into WinCC and had some starting troubles, there was no campaign running but I was surprised that almost every question was answered and solved. There are a lot of support forums where no one really cares unless they need something themselves. Because of my positive experience, I decided to hang around and help wherever possible (mainly WinCC) and also a way to keep myself updated about troubles I might run into someday myself. Also by following topics daily, I learn new things often too. |

Dear all to begin with, even though the amount of unnecessary "chatter" does increase in every Premium Campaign, the Campaign does achieve what it sets out to do. As for improvements,I like to take up an idea/proposal that IBN-Serviceessentially started some years ago when he suggested to make it possible to donate the premiums to a charitable organisation. The reasons (excuses?) for not implementing this were given as of practical/logistics manner. To overcome this and to allow Siemens to be a good corporate Citizen, here isidea on what to implement for next years Premium Campaign: 1.) Instead of a "lottery" Camcorder price for every 250 Premium points that one achieves,250 EURO's are accruedin the users name. At the end of the Campaign, Siemens will donate the money that each user accrued to a non for profit charity of the userschoice (alternatively, Siemens sets up a list of supportable charities that the users can pick from to avoidarguments about the "charitable character" of the chosen charity). 2.) Ideally as an addition to theabove (alternatively instead of theabove), the first10 placed at the end of the Campaign get 10000, 9000, 8000 --> 1000 EURO to donate. What do you say Siemens? We all help and support each other here which is great and this is the place to be as faras Siemens Automation related technical issues are concerned (alsolargely due to the work you Moderators do here, which often goes unnoticed). This is however THEopportunityfor Siemens to extend the reach of the Forum and to help those in real need (while we continue to help those who have the luxury toworry about how to format an MCC, connect a Drive to an S7, convert an S5 etc. etc.). Additionally, a nicely formatted "Siemens Technical Support Forum's Premium Campaign" Newsletter with pictures in it about the handover of the cheque's to thecharity organisation would show off Siemens as a good corporate citizen and should attract more users to this Forum. All up, its a ""win/win/win" situation for Siemens, the users here and those less fortunate than us. P.S: Excuses like "we don't have a couple of 10000 EURO's left in our budget"are not acceptable as an answer (and I can not think of any other reasons tonot implement this). |

I find it VERY counterproductive to say the least and NOT in the interest of those whoI had in mind of helping. People will simply post their questions in another forum or not ask question at all,as it will also create an administrative overheadI am hopeful thatSiemens willignore thisidea. No problems though with Siemens making a "donation" button available during thecampaign where users can donate additionally to the overall sum made available by Siemens. |

"O_Moderator" , I think you have talent in philosohy or poetry. The idea is obviously mentioned in the piece of poetry that I selected for my signiture.
finding solution for problems , seeking answers for our own questions and correct our false assumptions.In case of new cases,we refer to manuals and read them again carefully. This is the least point we may gain by participating in a giant project like this.
Working in a Giant company is frustrating , I have same experience here.We ironically say that the decision is in the pipeline i.e you need a long time to wait to get the result out of right decision. I just want to mention two points as feedback: 1-The campaign is better to be shorter and distributed in 4 different seasons of year.I think the forum experienced an overshoot in numbers and just hastily commnets instead of deep answers.Thanks fritz and dechartier who are still loyal to their previous method of writing detailed answers . 2- Pointing system should encourage participant to provide Tips based on their knowledge for others.It is the best policy to reduce the short comments as answers. regards hdhosseini |
