RFID-181EIP with Rockwell PLC-5 over Etheret/IP

BrasJL Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello, I'm trying to manage an RFID-181EIP module with an PLC-5 as indicated in the programming V4 manual. I begin the comunication by cyclic messages without errors. After, I send the parametrization of the module but I don't know how to ending it. The documentation say to send an0 wordlong message but PLC-5 CLP does not provide this: Message mustbe at least 1 word lond. So, I tried to send an1 word long message but, aferthe comunication is left. Another try was to change dinamicallythe length of the message to 0. Ther CLP accept but the message return an error. Is ther another way to complete the parametrization of the module ? Thanks (sorry for my english)

BrasJL Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi Owei, Thank for reply The chapter 9 give same information as 6-1: To parametrize the module, It's necessary to send one ten bytes length(5 words for PLC-5)parameter telegram with special objetc ID. To finalize the parametrization, it's necessary to send an zero byte length with same object ID (0x80#). According with 1785-rm001 (Instruction set reference for PLC-5 controller), sheet 16-6,for an MSG instruction: Size in elements: The number of elements (1-1000) to be transferred. RSLogix5 does'nt accept 0 in the size field when programming. So,as said in the first post, I tried to change the value dinamically but the MSG instruction retunr an error when processing.

Owei Gold Expert Joined: 10/1/2013 Last visit: 12/23/2025 Posts: 605 Rating: (71)	Hi, sadly I don't know much about PLC5, but there is an appendix (Chap. 12) with lots of information about PLC5 communication. Did you check that yet? I guess that 12.2.2 concerns your problem.

BrasJL Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi, Mybad : I found my error: an inversion offlag in the inicialization of the channel. It was not sending the Init command (cyclic) before the message. Finally, the module seems to accept an message of 1 word to close the parametrization. I'm sorry. thank for you attention.
