Problems with fiber optic and Scalance X101-1

opilopilo Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have some problems with one Scalance X101-1. I have connected the PLC to a scalance by ethernet and this scalance is conected to one switch by fiber optic. In the picture it can be seen. I tried making a ping with the PC to the PLC, but the PC can´t see the PLC. The problem is that i can´t communicate the PLC and the PC. The fiber optic cable is OK so I think that the problem is in the setting of the scalance. In the scalance I can see the LED lights like this: - P1(ethernet): It flashes green and yellow - P2(fiber optic): It is always yellow - L(Powe supply): It is always green - TL: It is always switched off - F(Failure): It is always switched off I have also tried changing the setting of the scalance pushing the SET button, but i don´t understand how i can change this setting. Maybe I need to configure something in the step7? Does someone know which is the problems? Attachment SCALANCE.jpg (576 Downloads)

Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (128)	Hello, if you use two media converter in a line (SCALANCE X101-1 and the other switch) the TL (Tranparent mode) must be enabled (LED on). This can be done with the SET Taster. Have a look here in chapter 3.8 http://cache.automation.siemens.com/dnl/zA/zA0MTAzMQAA_22446594_HB/BA_SCALANCE-X100-MC_76.pdf NOTE A direct cascading of two SCALANCE X101-1 FL or AUI is not possible! opilopilo Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	I have changed the setting to Tranparent mode(TL). When I have done this, the ethernet port(P1) has switched off and now also the communication is not working. I don´t understand for what is the tranparent mode and when I need to use it. In this case, should I use it? Maybe the problem is in the compatibility between the scalance and the switch. The FO port of the scalance is 100MB/s and of the switch is 1000MB/s. The switch is an industrial switch of HP

Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (128)	Hello, that can be the reason, because FO Port of SCALANCE use 100MBIt/s. Can you change the speed at the other switch? The transparent mode (LF-LED) must be enabled, when cascading two media converters.
