When trying to 'Go online' I keep getting the same error. Despite of this error, the 'Go online' button is still available but when i select it this window pops up.. 

Can anybody help me with fixing this? When I select YES, a window pops up saying the adding of the new IP-adress failed because it is already in use.

this message pop up if you Networkcard is not in the same IP Range like the S7-PLC.
You should assign a static IP Adress on you Networkcard which is in the same IP Net liek the S7-PLC.

But a few problems remain though. When downloading I get these two errors:

• Incompatible device detected at address 10.128.40.44
• Failed to establish a connection to the device with adress 10.128.40.44. Online: Connection could not be established. The connection partner is not responding.

first you should check the FW Version in the PLC an the projected version , this should be the same.

To check the PLC FW go to the projecttree -> online Access -> network adapter -> show accessible devices

if the PLC is list here open Online&Diagnostics to che´ck the FW Version of the PLC.

The firmware of the project is V4.0, at least that's what I found in Device Configuration . The PLC firmware is not available, probably cause there's no connection (see image). But on the box it says V04.00.00, it's a 6ES7 214-1HG40-OXBO ..

I run into the same issue using TIA v13-sp1 and a 1513-1PN CPU.

We had a project that worked fine for times, but suddenly gave this reponce.

After a lot of checks (6 hours wasted) it appeard that somebody made a change to the ethernet port of the Scalance X208 switch to witch the CPU was connected. This port was set as port-mirror partner. After removing this mirror option within the switch, all worked fine again.

I know its an older topic. Still maybe this information might help someone.

I was having the same problem...the device was found on the network but TIA portal could not access it. 

The PLC an S7-1200 was connected via a Linksys router.

I tried to program it via direct connection and it worked....then I thought to take a look at router settings....and identified the issue.

My router was configured to allow connections up to ip address xxx.xxx.xxx.150.

And PLC IP was xxx.xxx.xxx.250.

So make sure your router does not have some twisted configuration.

I had the same problem with a CPU 1214 with a message : Incompatible device detected at address (192.168.0.1 for example), when i wanted to connect to the PLC.

I used tia v13 (SP2) and windows 10 (1809)

The only solution I found was to turn off the power to the CPU and put it back in.If nothing to do, that I restart the PC, or the network card or whatever.
