Dear All, 

I would like to know the best Ultrasonic sensor for a 1050L tank of Water ,

and that is usually 1 to 1,5 m in height ,

and lastly the sensor can detect the water directly or I must have some sort of floating material for the sensor to read the level of the water ?

I'm open to both suggestions and I will select the best for my application so kindly please talk about both scenarios , possibilities , 

So about this tank , 

- max temperature is said to be the environmental temperature witch can be some times from -2 - until 45 , to 50 oC 

-Max Pressure .: 1 Atm , because they are not under pressure or enclosed in any way 

-Power Supply.: currently 12V DC can be Converted to 24V DC if Needed , 

-Output signal  Digital or analog , but I prefer to know exactly how much as in Volume or Level there is in the Tank due to prevention of over flow of the tank due to are not covered are open on the top 

-level Connection? You can Use a pressure Transducer on the output but are very unreliable... besides that the tank has an open top so you can do whatever you want ,

We have been using "Banner" Make Ultrasonic sensors for our applications to measure Coolant Tank levels without any major issues.

I don't know , what do you mean by "cheap", but they are certainly more "Economical"
