PISCEAN 2010 Posts: 8092 Rating: (884)	Hello Experts, We have to meet following application reuirement. Rotor shaft of weight 25 T is rotated at 1 RPM. Its angular rotary degree is to be measuered & displayed. Accuracy of rotary degree to measuered & displayed is 1 sec. e.g. if the rotor shaft is rotated & its actual angular position 10 degree 6 minute & 1 sec then it should be meaured & displayed as the exact value i.e. 10 degree 6 minute 1 sec. Also in case of power failuer this value should be memorised & after resuming power it must display the exact one. My question is can I select absolute encoder for this application & of how much PPR? Your hints/tips/comments in this regard are highly welcomed. Thanks & regards, DEEP.

Zahir Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have used 6FX2001-5xPXX SIMODRIVE Sensor before for a similar application, (determining wheel position/angle on pasenger bridge) with very good accuracy and very easy to use sensor. Further, the sensor has ProfiBus interface reducing cabling/interference issues. Check it out! Zahir

The encorder is interfaced to s7 300 (315-2DP) through profibus.
